Tithing

Tithing is a requirement of all Christians and Israelites. Tithing is part of a personal covenant we make with God and God has promised to pour out a blessing on any who pay tithe:

<< Malachi 3:8-10 >> Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. <9 > Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. <10> Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

It is mentioned in the Bible that Abraham gave tithe (see Genesis 14:18-20). Jacob vowed to give one tenth of all he received, back to God as a thank offering for his care (see Genesis 28:22). The Mosaic instruction commanded the Israelites to pay tithe of their increase in their herds as well as the seed of the land (see Leviticus 27:30-33). Jesus spoke of tithing as being a part of the Law of God which should be kept along with love and mercy (see Matthew 23:23). We should all pay our tithes towards the expenses of maintaining and up-keeping the services provided to you by the Sanctuary.
